Description

Ultimate Nachos Recipe featuring seasoned ground beef, creamy refried beans, melted cheese, and fresh toppings baked to perfection for a delicious and satisfying snack or meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • ¼ cup water (for beef)

Beans

  • 1 (16-ounce/454g) can refried beans
  • ¼ cup water (for beans)

Main Components

  • 1 (13-ounce/368g) bag tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack)

Toppings

  • ¼ cup pickled jalapenos
  • 3 roma tomatoes, diced
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • â…“ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup roughly chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbled. Drain off any excess fat for a leaner dish.
  2. Season the beef: Add the 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning and ¼ cup water to the cooked beef. Stir well and continue cooking for 2-3 minutes until the beef is evenly seasoned and flavorful.
  3. Heat refried beans: In a small saucepan, combine the refried beans and ¼ cup water. Stir occasionally over medium heat until smooth and warmed through.
  4. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the nachos.
  5. Assemble nachos: On a large baking sheet, evenly spread the tortilla chips. Layer the seasoned ground beef, warmed refried beans, and shredded cheese over the chips.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese has melted fully and is bubbly.
  7. Add pickled jalapenos: Remove the nachos from the oven and scatter the pickled jalapenos over the melted cheese.
  8. Top with fresh ingredients: Garnish with diced roma tomatoes, red onion, avocado, spoonfuls of sour cream, and chopped cilantro for vibrant flavor and texture.
  9. Serve: Serve the nachos immediately while warm and enjoy the combination of spicy, cheesy, and fresh flavors.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with seasoned cooked lentils or plant-based meat alternatives.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like olives, green onions, or shredded lettuce based on preference.
  • To add extra heat, include fresh chopped jalapenos or hot sauce.
  • Serve with salsa or guacamole on the side for more flavor options.
