Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Filling & Toppings
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel bits or soft caramels, unwrapped and chopped
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter until evenly mixed. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form an even crust layer.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the pressed crust, making sure to cover the surface uniformly.
- Layer Toppings: Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the condensed milk layer. Follow with an even layer of caramel bits or chopped soft caramels, then the chopped pecans. Finally, sprinkle the 1/4 teaspoon of salt evenly over the top to balance the sweetness.
- Bake the Bars: Place the baking dish uncovered into the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The bars are done when the edges turn lightly golden and the center is set but still slightly soft.
- Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for clean slicing. For easier cutting, refrigerate the bars for 30 minutes after cooling.
Notes
- For easier slicing, refrigerate the bars for 30 minutes after allowing them to cool completely.
- You can substitute chocolate graham crackers for a deeper chocolate flavor in the crust.
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
