Description
Sweet Peach Iced Tea is a refreshing and naturally sweetened summer beverage made from ripe peaches, black tea, and a hint of lemon. This homemade iced tea combines the juicy flavor of fresh peaches with the robust taste of black tea, perfectly balanced with a touch of sugar and served chilled over ice. Ideal for hot days, it’s easy to prepare on the stovetop and can be garnished with fresh peach slices and mint leaves for an extra pop of color and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
Peach Syrup
- 4 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
- 2 cups water
- ½ to ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
Tea
- 4 black tea bags
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
To Serve
- Ice cubes
- Fresh peach slices (optional)
- Mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Make Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, 2 cups of water, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes, gently mashing the peaches to release their juices.
- Strain Peach Mixture: Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the peach mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher, pressing gently to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- Brew Tea: Meanwhile, bring the remaining 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 5–7 minutes depending on your desired strength. Remove and discard the tea bags.
- Combine and Chill: Stir the peach syrup and lemon juice into the brewed tea. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to develop flavors and cool thoroughly.
- Serve: Pour the sweet peach iced tea over ice cubes. Garnish with fresh peach slices and mint leaves if desired. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor.
Notes
- For a sugar-free version, substitute granulated sugar with honey or a natural sweetener to taste.
- You can blend the peaches directly into the tea for a thicker, smoothie-like consistency.
- Best enjoyed within 3 days to maintain freshness and flavor.
