Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (more to taste)
- Green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge in cornstarch, then dip in beaten eggs.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy, about 4–5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately over rice or with a side of vegetables.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing red pepper flakes.
- Bake or air-fry chicken pieces for a lighter version.
- Best served fresh for optimal crispiness, though leftovers reheat well in the oven.
