Description

This refreshing Strawberry Sorbet recipe combines fresh strawberries, citrus juice, and a simple sugar syrup to create a naturally sweet and tangy frozen treat. Perfect for hot summer days, this easy-to-make sorbet is smooth, light, and bursting with fresh fruit flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups water

Sorbet

  • 5 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, cleaned and quartered (about 2 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice or lime juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare strawberries: Rinse the strawberries thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris, then quarter them to ensure they blend smoothly later in the process.
  2. Make sugar syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the water and granulated sugar. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, remove the pan from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  3. Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooled sugar syrup with the lemon or lime juice. Add the prepared strawberries to the bowl and gently stir to combine the flavors.
  4. Blend mixture: Working in batches, transfer the strawberry mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until the sorbet base is completely smooth and free of chunks to ensure a creamy texture once frozen.
  5. Freeze sorbet: Pour the smooth mixture into a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight until the sorbet is firm enough to scoop and serve.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, you can strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve before freezing to remove seeds.
  • If the sorbet is too hard after freezing, let it sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before scooping.
  • To enhance flavor, add a few fresh mint leaves or a splash of balsamic vinegar to the mixture before blending.
  • This recipe can be made vegan and gluten-free, naturally.
