Description

Delightful Stuffed Mashed Potato Nests featuring creamy mashed potatoes mixed with parmesan and butter, piped into crispy baked nests filled with savory Swiss cheese and thick-cut bacon. A perfect appetizer or side dish with a golden baked crust and melty filling.

Ingredients

Scale

Potato Mixture

  • 1 lb potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 stick (2 tbsp) butter
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Filling

  • 4 oz Swiss cheese, cubed
  • 4 oz thick-cut bacon, cubed
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Peel the potatoes thoroughly and place them in a pot of lightly salted water to boil until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Mash Potatoes: Drain the boiled potatoes and mash until smooth. Incorporate the egg, butter, and 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste and blend well. Transfer the mashed potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
  3. Form Nests: Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Pipe 3-inch-wide spirals starting from the center, building upwards to create nests with a well in the middle. Repeat this process to form a total of 6 nests on the tray.
  4. Fill Nests: Carefully fill each mashed potato nest with cubed Swiss cheese and bacon. Sprinkle additional parmesan cheese on top of each nest to add extra flavor and a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the stuffed nests for 20 minutes until the cheese is melted, the bacon is cooked, and the outside of the nests turn golden and slightly crispy.

Notes

  • For crispier nests, bake them a few extra minutes and broil briefly at the end, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  • Use a star-shaped nozzle for decorative piping and better nest formation.
  • Bacon can be pre-cooked slightly if preferred for extra crispness before filling.
  • These nests pair perfectly with a fresh green salad or as a side for roasted meats.
