Ingredients
-
1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box – usually eggs, oil, and water)
-
1 (3 oz) box strawberry JELL-O gelatin
-
1 cup boiling water
-
1/2 cup cold water
-
1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
-
1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
-
Bake the cake: Prepare and bake the white cake in a 9×13-inch pan according to package directions. Let it cool for 15 minutes.
-
Poke holes: Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
-
Make JELL-O: In a bowl, dissolve the strawberry JELL-O in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir in 1/2 cup of cold water.
-
Pour over cake: Slowly pour the JELL-O mixture over the cake, letting it soak into the holes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
-
Top with whipped topping: Spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake.
-
Garnish: Top with chopped fresh strawberries if desired. Slice and serve chilled!
Notes

You can swap in other JELL-O flavors like raspberry or cherry.
