Description

A flaky, buttery pastry filled with a sweet and tangy strawberry cream cheese mixture, topped with fresh strawberries and a glaze for the perfect breakfast or dessert treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the dough:
  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • For the filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 teaspoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press the seams together to form a solid sheet of dough. Cut the dough into 4 rectangles and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the center of each dough rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. In another small bowl, combine the chopped strawberries, cornstarch (if using), and lemon juice. Spoon the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese filling.
  6. Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a rectangular shape, creating a border around the filling.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden and puffed up.
  8. While the danishes bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Once the danishes have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top of each one.
  10. Top each danish with fresh strawberry slices and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra richness, you can add a tablespoon of butter to the cream cheese filling.
  • If you prefer a thicker filling, increase the amount of cornstarch in the strawberry mixture.
  • These danishes are best served fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
