Scale
- For the dough:
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- For the filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- For the glaze:
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 teaspoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and press the seams together to form a solid sheet of dough. Cut the dough into 4 rectangles and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the center of each dough rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
- In another small bowl, combine the chopped strawberries, cornstarch (if using), and lemon juice. Spoon the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese filling.
- Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a rectangular shape, creating a border around the filling.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden and puffed up.
- While the danishes bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the danishes have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top of each one.
- Top each danish with fresh strawberry slices and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For extra richness, you can add a tablespoon of butter to the cream cheese filling.
- If you prefer a thicker filling, increase the amount of cornstarch in the strawberry mixture.
- These danishes are best served fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
