Description

This Steak & Shrimp Stir-Fried Noodles recipe combines tender slices of flank steak and succulent shrimp with vibrant vegetables and flavorful Asian-inspired sauces. Perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight dinner, this dish delivers a wonderful balance of protein, veggies, and noodles all tossed together in a savory, slightly sweet sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Proteins

  • 1/2 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/2 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Noodles

  • 8 ounces lo mein noodles or spaghetti

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Oils & Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Noodles and Marinate Proteins: Cook the noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside. Toss the sliced steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce to marinate briefly. Toss the shrimp separately with the remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
  2. Make Sauce Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak slices and sear for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove steak from pan and set aside.
  4. Cook Shrimp: In the same pan, add shrimp and cook 2 to 3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside with the steak.
  5. Stir-Fry Vegetables and Aromatics: Add minced garlic, grated ginger, broccoli florets, and sliced red bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes, until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Combine All Ingredients: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the pan along with the drained noodles and previously prepared sauce mixture. Toss everything together and stir-fry for another 2 minutes to combine flavors and heat through evenly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and top with sliced green onions and optional sesame seeds before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce mixture.
  • You can swap out vegetables based on availability or preference; snap peas, carrots, or mushrooms make excellent alternatives.
  • Ensure to slice the steak thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Use fresh ginger for the best aromatic flavor in the stir-fry.
