Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a quick and satisfying meal perfect for weeknight dinners or when craving Asian-inspired flavors at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles

Proteins

  • 1/2 lb steak (e.g., sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Prepare the rice noodles or lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil until fully combined to create a flavorful stir-fry sauce.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the thinly sliced steak for 2 to 3 minutes until nicely browned and cooked to your liking. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and cook the peeled and deveined shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside with the steak.
  5. Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burned.
  6. Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for 3 to 4 minutes until they are tender-crisp, maintaining their vibrant colors and slight crunch.
  7. Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour in the prepared stir-fry sauce. Toss everything together thoroughly to evenly coat all ingredients with the sauce.
  8. Finish and Garnish: Continue cooking the combined stir-fry for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until everything is heated through. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if desired. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh vegetables and proteins for the best flavor and texture.
  • Make sure not to overcook shrimp as they can become tough and rubbery.
  • If rice noodles stick together, rinse them briefly with cold water after cooking.
  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or sliced fresh chili peppers during vegetable stir-fry.
  • Lo mein noodles can be substituted with rice noodles for a different texture.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
