Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Filling
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup chopped frozen spinach, thawed and drained
- ½ cup canned or jarred artichoke hearts, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For Egg Wash
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow easy cleanup.
- Prepare filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, Parmesan, mozzarella, chopped spinach, artichoke hearts, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
- Roll out pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a 10×14-inch rectangle. Transfer this to your prepared baking sheet carefully.
- Spread filling: Evenly spread the spinach-artichoke mixture over the puff pastry, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges to allow the pastry to puff properly.
- Apply egg wash: Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg. This will give the crust a beautiful, golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, and the filling is set.
- Cool and serve: Allow the baked square to cool slightly on a wire rack, then cut into 16 squares or rectangles. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- You can prepare the filling mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- For added flavor, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes to the filling mixture.
- Swap the mozzarella cheese with Gruyère cheese for a nuttier taste.
