Soy Sauce Fried Rice (酱油炒饭) is a simple, flavorful Chinese-style fried rice made with basic ingredients and seasoned with soy sauce for a rich umami taste.

- 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt to taste
- White pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
- Pour in the beaten eggs and scramble until just set. Remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the pan. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce and dark soy sauce. Stir to evenly coat the rice.
- Add the scrambled eggs back to the pan and mix well.
- Season with salt and white pepper to taste.
- Stir in the chopped green onions and cook for another minute.
- Serve hot as a main or side dish.
Notes
- Use cold, day-old rice for the best texture.
- Dark soy sauce adds color and deeper flavor—adjust to taste.
- You can add vegetables or protein like shrimp or chicken if desired.
