Description

These Slow Cooker Mississippi Sloppy Joes are a tangy, savory twist on the classic sandwich. Made with ground beef, pepperoncini peppers, and a blend of ranch and au jus seasonings, this slow-cooked version delivers bold flavor with every bite. Serve them on toasted buns for an easy weeknight dinner or game day crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Units Scale

2 lbs ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix

1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix

1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers

1/4 cup pepperoncini juice (from the jar)

2 tbsp unsalted butter

68 hamburger buns, toasted

Optional toppings: sliced cheese, coleslaw, pickles

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess grease.

  2. Transfer to slow cooker: Add the cooked beef and onion mixture to the slow cooker.

  3. Add seasonings: Stir in the ranch mix, au jus mix, pepperoncini peppers, pepperoncini juice, and butter.

  4. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours, stirring occasionally.

  5. Serve: Spoon the meat onto toasted buns and top with your favorite fixings.

Notes

  • For extra richness, stir in a little cream cheese or shredded cheese before serving.

  • This recipe works great with ground turkey or shredded beef too.

  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
