Ingredients
Scale
Dough Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more if needed)
- 1 packet Fleischmann’s® Rapid Rise Yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup warm whole milk
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 4 tablespoons salted butter (at room temperature)
- 1 large egg (at room temperature)
Honey Butter Glaze
- 6 tablespoons salted butter (melted)
- 3 tablespoons honey
Topping
- Flaky sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Make the dough: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, yeast, and kosher salt. Add warm whole milk, honey, egg, and room temperature butter. Using the dough hook attachment, mix until the flour is fully incorporated and the dough is smooth, about 4-5 minutes. If the dough feels sticky, gradually add up to 1/4 cup more flour as needed. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let the dough rest uncovered at room temperature for 15 minutes or up to a few hours to begin fermenting.
- Prepare honey butter: While the dough rests, combine melted butter and honey in a small bowl and mix until well blended. Set aside.
- Prepare baking dish and preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking during baking.
- Shape the rolls: Lightly dust your work surface with flour. Turn the dough out onto the surface and gently punch it down to release air. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each half out to form a 12-inch square about 1/4 inch thick. Generously brush the honey butter glaze over the surface of each square, reserving some glaze for later. Cut each square into 6 equal strips. Starting at one end, roll each strip into a tight coil to create the classic Parker House roll shape. Place each roll coil seam side down in the prepared baking dish side by side.
- Proof the rolls: Cover the baking dish with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the rolls rise at room temperature for about 30 minutes, until they have puffed up noticeably. Alternatively, for enhanced flavor and texture, cover and refrigerate the rolls overnight to allow a slow rise.
- Bake the rolls: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake rolls for 18-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Add finishing touches and serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush with the reserved honey butter glaze for a shiny, flavorful finish. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the warm rolls to add an inviting crunch and balance the sweetness. Pull apart the rolls and serve warm for the best experience.
