Description

This refreshing Watermelon Lemonade combines the natural sweetness of fresh watermelon with tart lemon juice to create a perfect summer beverage. Lightly sweetened with simple syrup or honey, it’s an easy-to-make, hydrating drink that can be enjoyed with still or sparkling water and served chilled over ice.

Ingredients

Scale

Watermelon Lemonade

  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes (peeled and seeded)
  • 8 fresh lemons, juiced
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup or liquid honey
  • 4 cups water or sparkling water
  • Ice, as needed
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon: Chop the watermelon into 1-inch cubes, removing the peel and any large seeds to ensure a smooth blend.
  2. Juice the Lemons: Squeeze the juice from the fresh lemons, removing any seeds from the juice.
  3. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes, lemon juice, and simple syrup or honey. Blend until completely smooth.
  4. Strain the Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and create a smooth watermelon lemonade concentrate, yielding about 4 cups.
  5. Mix and Serve: To serve, combine equal parts of the watermelon lemonade concentrate and cold water or sparkling water in a pitcher filled with ice. Alternatively, pour 1/2 cup of concentrate per person over ice and top with water or sparkling water. Garnish with lemon slices as desired.

Notes

  • Use ripe, seedless watermelon if possible for the best flavor and ease of preparation.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup or honey based on your taste.
  • For a fizzy version, use sparkling water instead of plain water.
  • Straining is optional if you prefer a pulpier texture.
  • This lemonade is best served immediately but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
