Description

A festive and patriotic marble cake swirled with red, white, and blue colors, perfect for Fourth of July celebrations and other patriotic holidays.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt or loaf cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain (white), tint one red, and the other blue using food coloring.
  7. Spoon batters alternately into the prepared pan to create a marbled effect. Use a knife to gently swirl the colors together.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not over-swirl the batter to preserve the marble pattern.
  • Gel food coloring provides more vibrant colors without altering the batter consistency.
  • This cake can be topped with a simple glaze or served plain.
