Description

These Quick and Easy 10-Minute Chili Oil Udon Noodles are the perfect dish for when you’re craving something flavorful and fast. Udon noodles are tossed in a spicy, savory chili oil sauce with a hint of garlic, sesame, and soy sauce for a simple yet satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 packs of fresh or frozen udon noodles
  • 3 tablespoons chili oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)

Instructions

  1. Cook the udon noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or pan, heat the chili oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  4. Add the cooked udon noodles to the skillet and toss to coat in the chili oil sauce. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes to ensure the noodles are heated through and evenly coated.
  5. Remove from heat and transfer the noodles to a serving bowl.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an added boost of flavor, you can top the noodles with a soft-boiled egg or some cooked vegetables like spinach or bok choy.
  • If you prefer a milder sauce, reduce the amount of chili oil or skip the red pepper flakes.
  • You can make your own chili oil by infusing oil with dried chili flakes, garlic, and ginger, but store-bought chili oil works perfectly for this recipe.
  • If you prefer a gluten-free option, use gluten-free udon noodles or substitute with rice noodles.
