Description

A deliciously simple dessert made with crescent roll dough wrapped around apple slices, baked in a rich buttery cinnamon-sugar sauce with a splash of citrus soda for extra magic.


Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each
  • 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (12 oz) can lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll triangle and place seam-side down in the prepared dish.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar and stir gently (do not fully dissolve the sugar), then add vanilla extract and cinnamon.
  4. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
  5. Slowly pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the pan (not over the tops of the dumplings).
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples are preferred for their tartness and firm texture.
  • Do not pour soda over the dumplings to maintain a crisp top.
  • Let dumplings rest a few minutes after baking to allow sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Best served fresh, but can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
