Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each
- 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 (12 oz) can lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll triangle and place seam-side down in the prepared dish.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar and stir gently (do not fully dissolve the sugar), then add vanilla extract and cinnamon.
- Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
- Slowly pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the pan (not over the tops of the dumplings).
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Granny Smith apples are preferred for their tartness and firm texture.
- Do not pour soda over the dumplings to maintain a crisp top.
- Let dumplings rest a few minutes after baking to allow sauce to thicken slightly.
- Best served fresh, but can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
