Ingredients
- 4 ripe Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
- 1/2 medium white onion, finely chopped
- 1–2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely minced
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (more to taste)
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the diced Roma tomatoes, finely chopped onion, minced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, and minced garlic until evenly distributed.
- Add Lime Juice and Seasoning: Squeeze the juice of one fresh lime over the mixture, then sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir thoroughly to combine all flavors.
- Adjust Seasoning and Rest: Taste the pico de gallo and adjust the salt or pepper as needed. Allow it to rest for 15–20 minutes so the flavors meld together beautifully.
- Serve Fresh: Serve the pico de gallo fresh as a dip with tortilla chips or as a flavorful topping for tacos, grilled meats, or your favorite Mexican dishes.
Notes
- For a milder salsa, use only one jalapeño or substitute with a milder pepper.
- Try adding diced avocado or cucumber for added texture and flavor variation.
- Use ripe Roma tomatoes for the best flavour and freshness.
