Description

This Perfect Grilled Chicken Breasts recipe features tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts marinated in Japanese BBQ sauce, then grilled to juicy perfection. The marinade adds a savory, slightly sweet flavor, making these chicken breasts ideal for a quick, flavorful weeknight dinner or a weekend cookout.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Marinade

  • ½ cup Bachman’s Japanese BBQ sauce (or your favorite BBQ sauce)

For Grilling

  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a ziplock bag and add the Japanese BBQ sauce. Seal the bag and massage it gently to coat the chicken evenly. Refrigerate and marinate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  2. Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450°F (232°C) to ensure you get a nice sear on the chicken breasts.
  3. Prepare Grill Grates: Spray the grill grates with nonstick cooking spray or use tongs to rub an oiled paper towel on the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill Chicken: Place the marinated chicken breasts on the grill. Reduce the heat to medium-high and close the grill lid. Cook for 6 minutes on the first side to develop grill marks and cook through partially.
  5. Flip and Continue Cooking: Flip the chicken breasts and grill for an additional 6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 155°F (68°C). This ensures the chicken is cooked safely and remains juicy.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in tender and flavorful chicken breasts. Slice and serve as desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) after resting.
  • If you don’t have a grill, this recipe can be adapted for stovetop grilling with a grill pan.
  • Adjust cooking times based on chicken breast thickness.
  • BBQ sauce can be substituted with other marinades, such as teriyaki or honey mustard, for different flavor profiles.
