Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Pudding
- 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
Whipped Cream
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Other Ingredients
- 4-5 bananas, sliced
- 1 cup crushed graham crackers
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, halved
- Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate Pudding: In a medium bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk together for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Then place it in the refrigerator and let it set for 5 minutes to firm up.
- Make the Whipped Cream: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium-high speed to beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. This should take about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Assemble the Trifle Layers: In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, start by spreading one-third of the prepared chocolate pudding as the base layer.
- Add Banana Slices: Arrange a layer of sliced bananas evenly over the pudding.
- Sprinkle Crushed Graham Crackers: Add a layer of crushed graham crackers on top of the bananas for a crunchy texture.
- Add Whipped Cream Layer: Spread one-third of the whipped cream over the graham crackers.
- Add Chocolate Chips and Cherries: Scatter chocolate chips and halved maraschino cherries over the whipped cream to add bursts of flavor and color.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat all the layers one more time—pudding, bananas, graham crackers, whipped cream, chocolate chips, and cherries—and finish with a final layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish and Chill: Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top layer of whipped cream and garnish with additional chocolate chips and maraschino cherries. Cover and refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour before serving to let the flavors meld and the dessert chill thoroughly.
Notes
- For best results, use ripe but firm bananas to avoid browning and mushiness.
- Ensure the pudding is well set before layering to maintain structure.
- Feel free to substitute graham crackers with digestive biscuits or crushed cookies of your choice.
- This dessert is best served chilled; do not leave it out at room temperature for long periods.
- Can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
