Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices, chopped
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon crumbles
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Taco Shells & Toppings
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Olive oil for brushing
- Chopped parsley or basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the meat filling: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the Italian sausage and ground beef. Cook, breaking the meat apart with a spoon, until thoroughly browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease from the pan.
- Add meats and seasonings: Stir in the chopped pepperoni, cooked bacon crumbles, pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder into the cooked meat mixture. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.
- Warm and oil the tortillas: Slightly warm the flour tortillas to make them flexible, then brush both sides lightly with olive oil to help them crisp during baking.
- Form taco shells: Drape each tortilla over two bars of the oven rack to shape them into taco shells. Bake in the preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes until the tortillas are golden and crisp. Remove from oven and set aside carefully.
- Fill and top the tacos: Spoon a generous amount of the meat filling into each taco shell. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly on top of the filling.
- Melt the cheese: Place the filled tacos on a baking sheet and bake again for 5–6 minutes at 400°F (200°C) until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the tacos from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley or basil if desired, and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- Use low-carb tortillas to make this recipe keto-friendly.
- For extra crispiness, air fry the filled tacos at 375°F for 3–4 minutes after baking.
- Serve with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping to enhance the flavors.
