Description

These Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy, and filled with gooey chocolate chips and sweet cherry bits in every bite. With a pretty pink color and bursts of flavor, they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, parties, or whenever you’re craving a fun treat!

 


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional, enhances cherry flavor)

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries (blotted dry)

  • 1/2 cup mini or regular semi-sweet chocolate chips

 

  • 1-2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice (for color and flavor)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg, vanilla, almond extract (if using), and cherry juice until combined.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

  • Fold in chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.

  • Scoop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are set and centers are still soft.

 

  • Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.


Notes

  • Blot cherries well with paper towels to prevent soggy cookies.

  • Add a few extra chocolate chips on top before baking for a bakery-style look.

 

  • Store in an airtight container at room temp for up to 4 days.
