Ingredients
Scale
Seafood
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 8 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Seasonings & Aromatics
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Other Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Peel and devein the shrimp if not already done. Mince the garlic cloves finely to prepare for sautéing.
- Sauté Garlic in Butter: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned, ensuring the butter is infused with garlic flavor.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, and optionally a pinch of cayenne pepper for some heat. Cook the shrimp for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn pink and opaque.
- Cook the Salmon Fillets: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the same skillet among the shrimp. Season the salmon with salt and pepper. Cook undisturbed for about 5 to 6 minutes, allowing the skin to become golden brown and crisp while the salmon cooks through.
- Add Lemon Juice and Simmer: Squeeze the juice of one fresh lemon over the seafood. Reduce the heat slightly and let everything simmer for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the shrimp are fully cooked.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the dish for a burst of color and fresh herb flavor. Serve the salmon and shrimp hot, preferably alongside steamed rice or vegetables as a balanced meal.
Notes
- Ensure the skillet is properly heated before adding the seafood to get a good sear on the salmon skin.
- Do not disturb the salmon fillets while cooking skin-side down to avoid breaking the crust.
- The pinch of cayenne pepper is optional; omit if you prefer a milder dish.
- Adjust cooking times based on the thickness of the salmon fillets.
- Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
