Hawaiian Sweet Bread Strata is a tropical-inspired breakfast casserole made with fluffy sweet bread, eggs, cheese, and savory meats or veggies, soaked overnight and baked to golden perfection.

- 1 (16 oz) loaf Hawaiian sweet bread, cubed
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese
- 1 cup cooked ham, diced (or cooked bacon/sausage)
- 1/2 cup pineapple tidbits, drained
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter or cooking spray for greasing
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Evenly spread the cubed Hawaiian sweet bread in the dish.
- Sprinkle diced ham, pineapple, green onions, and shredded cheese over the bread cubes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread mixture, pressing lightly to ensure all cubes are soaked.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Uncover and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Make it vegetarian by omitting the meat or replacing it with sautéed veggies.
- For added sweetness, mix in a bit of maple syrup or brown sugar to the egg mixture.
- Strata can be made a day ahead for easy entertaining.
