Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Wrap Components
- 6 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened and translucent.
- Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7 to 8 minutes. Drain any excess grease to keep the mixture from becoming oily.
- Season and Simmer: Season the beef with cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to meld the flavors together.
- Warm Tortillas: While the beef simmers, warm the flour tortillas either in a dry skillet over low heat for a minute per side or in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel for about 20 seconds until pliable.
- Assemble Wraps: Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture onto each tortilla. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, a dollop of sour cream, and chopped cilantro if using.
- Wrap and Serve: Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling and then roll tightly from the bottom up to form a wrap. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra heat, add diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce to the beef mixture during cooking.
- Ground turkey or chicken can be used in place of beef for a leaner version.
- Serve with salsa or guacamole on the side for added flavor.
