Scale
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 medium yellow onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (whole or 2%)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and salt.
- Cook onions, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized, about 25–30 minutes. Reduce heat if they brown too quickly.
- Stir in black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the onions cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt and the cooled caramelized onions. Mix until well combined.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.
- Garnish with chopped chives before serving, if desired.
Notes
- Use sweet onions for extra depth of flavor.
- Make ahead—the dip tastes better the next day.
- Serve with pita chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
