Description

Garlicky Moroccan Fish is a flavorful and aromatic dish featuring tender white fish baked in a spiced chermoula sauce made with garlic, cilantro, paprika, and lemon. It’s a vibrant and healthy North African classic perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or sea bass)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix garlic, cilantro, parsley, olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper to form a marinade (chermoula).
  3. Place fish fillets in a baking dish and coat them generously with the chermoula sauce. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes (up to 1 hour in the fridge for more flavor).
  4. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Garnish with lemon slices and serve with couscous, rice, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Use any firm white fish that holds up well to baking.
  • Marinating longer intensifies flavor but is optional for a quick meal.
  • Serve with olives and roasted vegetables for a traditional Moroccan touch.
