Description

Garlic Parmesan Orzo is a creamy, flavorful pasta side dish made with tender orzo, garlic, butter, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese—perfect alongside chicken, seafood, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add orzo and cook, stirring frequently, for 2–3 minutes to lightly toast the pasta.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, or until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese and heavy cream (if using). Mix until creamy and well combined.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • Add cooked peas, spinach, or mushrooms for extra nutrition and flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled chicken, shrimp, or salmon.
