- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frying
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Topping
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder to combine evenly.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the egg thoroughly, then stir in milk and vanilla extract until fully blended.
- Combine Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until the batter is smooth without lumps.
- Heat Oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or saucepan and heat over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe Batter: Transfer the batter to a piping bag or squeeze bottle fitted with a wide tip. Carefully pipe 4–5 inch straight lines of batter into the hot oil, working in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry to Golden: Fry the batter lines for 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crisp.
- Drain and Serve: Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, serve with chocolate sauce, caramel, or strawberry dipping sauce.
- Best enjoyed fresh and warm to retain crispiness.
