Description

Enjoy a sweet and crispy treat with this easy Funnel Cake Fries recipe. These golden, deep-fried batter strips are dusted with powdered sugar and perfect for fairs, parties, or a decadent homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Batter Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frying

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Topping

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder to combine evenly.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the egg thoroughly, then stir in milk and vanilla extract until fully blended.
  3. Combine Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until the batter is smooth without lumps.
  4. Heat Oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or saucepan and heat over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe Batter: Transfer the batter to a piping bag or squeeze bottle fitted with a wide tip. Carefully pipe 4–5 inch straight lines of batter into the hot oil, working in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry to Golden: Fry the batter lines for 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crisp.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, serve with chocolate sauce, caramel, or strawberry dipping sauce.
  • Best enjoyed fresh and warm to retain crispiness.
