Description

Fudgy Chocolate Brownie Pie is a decadent dessert that combines the rich, gooey texture of a brownie with the sliceable ease of a pie. Baked in a pie crust or on its own in a pie dish, it’s dense, chocolaty, and perfect served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (optional)

Brownie Pie Filling

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Additional chocolate chips or chunks for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If using a pie crust, press it firmly into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside to prepare the filling.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted unsalted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Sift together the unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder to remove any lumps. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined to avoid overmixing, which can make the brownies tough.
  4. Incorporate Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  5. Assemble Pie: Pour the prepared batter into the pie crust if using, or directly into a greased 9-inch pie dish if skipping the crust. Optionally, sprinkle additional chocolate chips or chunks on top for extra chocolate flavor and texture.
  6. Bake: Place the pie dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The brownie pie is ready when the top looks set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the brownie pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This helps to set the fudgy texture. Serve warm or at room temperature, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for added indulgence.

Notes

  • Skip the crust for a crustless brownie-style pie with an even fudgier texture.
  • For extra richness, drizzle with chocolate sauce or top with whipped cream or ice cream before serving.
  • Ensure not to overbake to maintain the gooey, fudgy center texture.
