Description

French Dip Biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make savory treat featuring flaky refrigerated biscuits filled with tender roast beef, creamy horseradish sauce, and provolone cheese, served alongside a flavorful Au Jus gravy for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits

  • 1 (16.3-oz) can refrigerated biscuits (8-count)

Filling

  • 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 2 Tbsp creamy horseradish sauce (or to taste)
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Au Jus

  • 1 (1-oz) packet Au Jus Gravy mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Assemble Biscuits: Separate each biscuit into two layers. Spread each layer generously with creamy horseradish sauce. On the bottom half of each biscuit, place a slice of provolone cheese and a portion of the thinly sliced roast beef. Top with the remaining biscuit layer and pinch the edges to seal the filling inside.
  3. Bake Biscuits: Arrange the assembled biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Prepare Au Jus Sauce: While the biscuits are baking, prepare the Au Jus gravy mix according to the package directions, heating it until warm and flavorful.
  5. Serve: Remove the biscuits from the oven, serve them hot with the prepared Au Jus gravy on the side for dipping, and enjoy your French Dip Biscuits!

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of horseradish sauce to your taste for a milder or spicier dip.
  • Using thinly sliced roast beef helps the biscuits heat through without drying out the meat.
  • Provolone cheese melts nicely but you can substitute with mozzarella or Swiss cheese if preferred.
  • Seal biscuit edges well to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  • The Au Jus gravy mix can be substituted with homemade beef broth and caramelized onions for a richer sauce.
