Description

Fireball Cherry Bombs are a fun and festive treat combining maraschino cherries soaked in cinnamon whiskey and coated in smooth white chocolate with a sprinkle of colorful sanding sugar. Perfect for parties or special occasions, these bite-sized delights offer a fun burst of flavorful warmth with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Cherries and Soaking Liquid

  • 10 ounce jar maraschino cherries with stems
  • ¼ cup Fireball cinnamon whiskey

Coating

  • 5 ounces white chocolate melting wafers (from a 10-ounce Ghiradhelli package)
  • ¼ cup colored sanding sugar sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Drain the cherries: Drain off ¼ cup of the juice from the jar of maraschino cherries, saving the lid to reseal the jar.
  2. Soak the cherries: Replace the drained juice in the jar with ¼ cup of Fireball cinnamon whiskey. Seal the jar tightly with the lid, gently shaking to distribute the whiskey evenly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight to let the cherries absorb the cinnamon flavor.
  3. Prepare for dipping: Line a large plate with a paper towel. Drain the liquid from the cherries and place them stem-side up on the plate. Pat each cherry dry as much as possible to ensure the chocolate adheres well.
  4. Melt the white chocolate: Place the white chocolate melting wafers in a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until completely melted and smooth. Follow any package instructions for best results.
  5. Dip the cherries: Hold each cherry by its stem and dip it into the white chocolate until almost fully coated. Gently shake off excess chocolate to avoid drips.
  6. Add sanding sugar: Immediately dip the white chocolate-coated cherry into the bowl of colored sanding sugar and roll gently to evenly coat the chocolate. Place the coated cherry on a parchment-lined plate.
  7. Set the coating: Repeat the dipping and coating process for all cherries. Then refrigerate the plate of coated cherries for 30 minutes to allow the white chocolate to fully firm up before serving.

Notes

  • For stronger Fireball flavor, soak cherries overnight.
  • Make sure cherries are dry before dipping to ensure chocolate sticks well.
  • Use high-quality white chocolate melting wafers for smooth coating.
  • Store leftover cherry bombs in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
