Description
A simple and classic breakfast dish where an egg is cooked in the center of a slice of bread, resulting in a crispy, buttery toast with a perfectly cooked egg in the middle.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 slice of bread
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Use a round cutter or the rim of a glass to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Place the bread slice in the skillet and crack the egg into the hole.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the egg sets on the bottom.
- Carefully flip the bread and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the egg is cooked to your liking.
- Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can toast the cut-out circle alongside the bread for a crispy dipper.
- Adjust cooking time to keep the yolk runny or cook through based on preference.
- Try adding cheese, herbs, or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
