Description

A simple and classic breakfast dish where an egg is cooked in the center of a slice of bread, resulting in a crispy, buttery toast with a perfectly cooked egg in the middle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 slice of bread
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Use a round cutter or the rim of a glass to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  3. Place the bread slice in the skillet and crack the egg into the hole.
  4. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the egg sets on the bottom.
  5. Carefully flip the bread and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the egg is cooked to your liking.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can toast the cut-out circle alongside the bread for a crispy dipper.
  • Adjust cooking time to keep the yolk runny or cook through based on preference.
  • Try adding cheese, herbs, or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
