Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 2 cups water
- 6 no-boil lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and garlic; cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in marinara sauce, water, broken lasagna noodles, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to medium‑low, cover, and cook for 15–18 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until noodles are tender.
- Drop spoonfuls of ricotta over the top, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover again and cook for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use no-boil noodles to save time and avoid boiling a separate pot.
- Substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for a different flavor.
- Add a handful of spinach or sliced mushrooms for extra veggies.
- Leftovers reheat well in the microwave or stovetop.
