Description

These Deep-Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Wonton Bites are a delectable treat combining creamy cheesecake filling with the sweet burst of strawberries, all wrapped in crispy golden wonton wrappers. Perfect for parties or as a delightful dessert, they’re quick to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Strawberry Jam or Preserves
  • Fresh Strawberries, diced (optional)

For Wrapping and Frying

  • 20-24 pieces Wonton Wrappers
  • Water, as needed for sealing the edges
  • Vegetable Oil, as needed for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the diced fresh strawberries if using, to add a fresh texture and flavor to the filling.
  2. Assemble the Wontons: Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the cheesecake filling in the center of each wrapper to avoid overfilling and spilling during frying.
  3. Seal the Wontons: Moisten the edges of each wonton wrapper with a little water using your finger or a small brush. Fold each wrapper into a triangle shape, pressing the edges firmly to ensure they are tightly sealed and will not open when frying.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep fryer or a large heavy-bottomed pot to submerge the wontons. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C), using a thermometer to maintain the correct temperature for optimal crisping without burning.
  5. Fry the Wontons: Carefully drop the wontons into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot which can lower the oil temperature. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried wontons using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm with extra strawberry jam or a dollop of whipped cream for dipping and added indulgence.

Notes

  • Ensure the wonton wrappers are sealed tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during frying.
  • Maintain the oil temperature at 350°F to ensure even cooking and a crispy texture without sogginess.
  • Optional: Add a pinch of lemon zest or cinnamon to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture as the wontons are crispest when fresh.
