Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
Seasonings & Sauce
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 packet Italian dressing mix (1 oz)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Topping
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Crock Pot: Clean your crock pot thoroughly to ensure it’s ready for cooking.
- Layer Chicken: Place the chicken breasts evenly spaced in the bottom of the crock pot.
- Add Italian Dressing Mix: Sprinkle the Italian dressing mix generously over the chicken breasts to coat them with flavor.
- Mix Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, minced garlic, and melted butter until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the chicken in the crock pot.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the sauce-covered chicken.
- Cook: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Shred and Combine: Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the crock pot using two forks. Stir well to combine the shredded chicken with the sauce and cheese for a creamy consistency.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup with a homemade or low-sodium version for a healthier option.
- Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting quality.
- Adjust cooking time if your crock pot runs hot or if you use different size chicken breasts.
- Serve the dish over rice, pasta, or with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
