Description

These homemade chicken nuggets are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and way better than takeout! Made with real chicken breast, seasoned breadcrumbs, and your choice of baking or frying, they’re perfect for lunch, dinner, or snacks that everyone will love.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon milk

  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko or regular)

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

 

  • Cooking oil (for frying) or olive oil spray (for baking or air frying)


Instructions

  • Prep the breading station:

    • In one bowl, mix flour with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

    • In a second bowl, whisk eggs with milk.

    • In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan (if using).

  • Bread the chicken:
    Dredge each chicken piece in flour, dip in egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly so the crumbs stick well.

  • Choose your cooking method:

    → To Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Place nuggets on a parchment-lined baking sheet and spray lightly with olive oil.

    • Bake for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and cooked through.

    → To Fry:

    • Heat about 1 inch of oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Fry nuggets in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

    • Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate.

    → To Air Fry:

    • Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

    • Air fry nuggets in a single layer for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway through.

 


Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for an extra juicy version.

  • Want to make them gluten-free? Use GF breadcrumbs and flour.
