Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
12 oz pasta shells (or any pasta shape you prefer)
-
1 small onion, diced
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 cup beef broth
-
1 cup heavy cream
-
1 tablespoon tomato paste
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano
-
1 teaspoon dried basil
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional for extra creaminess)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
-
Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
-
Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent.
-
Stir in the tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
-
Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the liquid to reduce slightly.
-
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, mixing until smooth and creamy.
-
Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet, stirring to coat them in the creamy beef sauce.
-
If using, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top and stir until it melts into the sauce.
-
Let the dish simmer for a couple of minutes until heated through, then serve immediately
Notes
For a spicier version, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
If you want to add more vegetables, spinach, bell peppers, or peas work well in this dish.
