Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Ball
- 16 oz goat cheese (two 8 oz logs of goat chèvre), room temperature
- â…“ cup pecans, finely chopped
- â…“ cup dried cranberries, finely chopped
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ tsp cracked pepper
- 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
- ½ tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
To Serve
- Crackers for serving
Instructions
- Prepare Toppings: Finely dice the dried cranberries and pecans into small bits and place them on a plate. Add the chopped fresh thyme, rosemary, salt, and cracked pepper to the mix. Stir everything well to combine.
- Form the Cheese Base: Soften the goat cheese to room temperature and work it into a smooth ball using your hands. If you prefer a creamier texture, you can mix 8 oz goat cheese with 8 oz cream cheese at room temperature in a bowl instead.
- Coat Cheese Ball: Roll the formed goat cheese ball gently into the prepared pecan and cranberry mixture. Press and turn the ball repeatedly so that the mixture adheres evenly across the entire surface of the cheese ball. Continue until the ball is completely coated and the toppings stick well.
- Serving and Storage: Place the finished cheese ball on a serving plate. Serve immediately with crackers or fresh vegetables. If making ahead, wrap the cheese ball tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve, ensuring it stays fresh.
Notes
- If making mini goat cheese balls, reduce the fresh rosemary to ¼ tsp to avoid overpowering the flavor.
- Room temperature goat cheese is essential for easier rolling and mixing.
- For a milder flavor and creamier texture, mix goat cheese with cream cheese as described.
- Can be wrapped and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days before serving.
- Use chopped nuts and cranberries fine enough to stick well but still provide a pleasant texture.
