Ingredients

Scale

Potato Mixture

  • 1 (30 to 32-oz) bag frozen hash browns
  • 2 (10.5-oz) cans unsalted cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (16-oz) container sour cream
  • 1 (1-oz) package ranch dressing mix
  • â…“ cup hot sauce or wing sauce
  • 2/3 cup cooked chopped bacon
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups cooked chopped chicken

Topping

  • 1 cup french fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Mix ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the frozen hash browns, unsalted cream of chicken soup, sour cream, ranch dressing mix, hot sauce, cooked chopped chicken, cooked chopped bacon, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir everything together until the mixture is evenly combined.
  3. Assemble casserole: Pour the prepared mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the french fried onions evenly over the top of the casserole to add a crunchy topping.
  4. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and heated through, and the topping is golden and crispy.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot sauce to make the casserole more or less spicy based on your preference.
  • For a lower sodium version, use low-sodium cream of chicken soup and bacon.
  • If fresh chicken isn’t available, shredded rotisserie chicken works well.
  • For a gluten-free option, make sure to use gluten-free cream of chicken soup and french fried onions.
  • This casserole can be prepared a day ahead and baked before serving to save time.
