Description
Churros are classic Spanish and Mexican treats made from fried dough, coated in cinnamon sugar. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce or enjoying on their own.

- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep skillet or pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting with scissors. Fry until golden, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Remove churros with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the mixture to coat.
- Serve immediately, optionally with chocolate dipping sauce.
Notes
- Use a sturdy piping bag and a star tip for classic churro ridges.
- For extra indulgence, fill churros with caramel or chocolate.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
