- 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to remove any lumps.
- Add the cold heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract to the bowl.
- Using a hand mixer or stand mixer with a whisk attachment, beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form, about 3–5 minutes.
- Use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes, or refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
- Ensure the heavy cream is very cold for best whipping results.
- Do not overwhip or the frosting may turn grainy or into butter.
- Can be stabilized by adding 1 tbsp of instant pudding mix or 1 tsp gelatin dissolved in water.
