Description

These Chili Lime Shrimp Wraps are a fresh and flavorful dish perfect for a light lunch or dinner. Succulent shrimp are seasoned with a smoky, spicy blend and quickly cooked in a skillet before being wrapped in crisp lettuce leaves with creamy avocado, fresh cilantro, and a kick of red chili. Finished with a bright squeeze of lime juice, these wraps are vibrant, healthy, and ready in just 21 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Mixture

  • 1 1/2 lb Shrimp, raw, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp Avocado oil
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp Ground cumin
  • 2 cloves fresh Garlic, minced
  • Zest of 2 fresh Limes
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Wrap Ingredients

  • 8 Romaine or butter lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 large Avocado, sliced
  • 1 handful fresh Cilantro leaves
  • 1 Red chili, sliced
  • Juice of 2 fresh Limes
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Peel and devein the shrimp if necessary. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with avocado oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, minced garlic, lime zest, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss everything thoroughly to coat the shrimp evenly with the seasoning.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and become opaque, indicating they are cooked through. Remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Lettuce Leaves: While the shrimp cooks, wash and dry the lettuce leaves carefully to ensure they remain crisp. Set these aside for wrapping.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Spoon the cooked shrimp evenly into each lettuce leaf. Top with slices of avocado, fresh cilantro leaves, and red chili slices to add creaminess, herby freshness, and heat.
  5. Finish and Serve: Drizzle the juice of fresh limes over the assembled wraps. Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to your liking. Serve immediately while the shrimp is still warm and the lettuce crisp.

Notes

  • For extra heat, leave the red chili seeds in or add more chili slices.
  • Use butter lettuce for a softer wrap or romaine for a crunchier texture.
  • To prepare shrimp faster, buy pre-peeled and deveined shrimp.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for a larger crowd.
  • Serve with a side of salsa or a light yogurt dip for added flavor.
