Description

Cheesy Chicken Crescent Rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make main course featuring tender cooked chicken combined with creamy cheeses and savory spices, all wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a quick dinner or a kid-friendly meal, these rolls offer a comforting blend of flavors and a delightful flaky texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dough & Topping

  • 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and aid in easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cooked chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated to create a creamy and flavorful filling.
  3. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and separate it into 16 individual triangles according to the perforations.
  4. Fill & Roll: Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Carefully roll each triangle up starting from the wide end, slightly tucking the sides as you roll to enclose the filling fully, forming crescent-shaped rolls.
  5. Arrange and Butter: Place the prepared rolls onto the lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly. Brush the tops with melted butter to ensure a golden brown finish after baking. Optionally, sprinkle dried parsley on top for added color and flavor.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the filling is heated through.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute rotisserie chicken for a quicker prep option.
  • Add chopped cooked bacon or green onions to the filling for extra flavor.
