Description

Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze is a classic Italian appetizer made with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves, drizzled with a sweet and tangy balsamic reduction for a refreshing and elegant dish.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 12 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for glaze)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, add balsamic vinegar and honey (if using). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes until it thickens into a glaze. Set aside to cool.
  2. On a serving platter, alternate slices of tomato and mozzarella, tucking basil leaves between them.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the top just before serving.

Notes

  • Use heirloom tomatoes for more color and flavor.
  • Balsamic glaze can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the dressing.
