Description
A rich and flavorful dish featuring tender basa fillets cooked in a luscious buttery, cheesy garlic cream sauce, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon slices. Perfect for an easy yet indulgent weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Fish
- 4 basa fillets (about 4 oz each)
Sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Garnish
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 lemon, sliced (for serving)
Instructions
- Season the fish: Season the basa fillets evenly on both sides with salt, black pepper, and dried oregano to infuse flavor before cooking.
- Cook the basa fillets: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When the butter is melted and sizzling, add the basa fillets. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. Remove the fillets from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté garlic: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until it becomes fragrant without burning.
- Create the cream sauce: Pour in the heavy cream while stirring, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet’s bottom to incorporate flavor into the sauce.
- Add cheeses and melt: Reduce the heat to low and stir in grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella cheeses. Continue stirring until the cheeses melt and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Combine fish and sauce: Return the cooked basa fillets to the skillet, spoon the cheesy sauce over them, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm the fish and fully melt the cheese.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley and lemon slices. Serve immediately with your favorite sides like rice, steamed vegetables, or salad.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is sizzling before adding the fish to get a nice golden crust.
- Use fresh garlic for best flavor in the sauce.
- You can substitute basa with similar flaky white fish fillets like cod or tilapia.
- Serve with simple sides like rice or vegetables to balance the richness of the sauce.
- To make it lighter, reduce the amount of butter or use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
