Description

Brown Butter Brownies are a rich and indulgent twist on classic brownies, made with nutty, aromatic browned butter to deepen the chocolate flavor and add a gourmet touch.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat immediately.
  3. Stir in granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and salt into the browned butter while still warm. Mix until combined.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Fold in flour and baking powder until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely in the pan before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake to keep the brownies fudgy.
  • Chill the brownies for cleaner cuts and firmer texture.
  • Brown butter adds a nutty flavor; watch closely to avoid burning.
