Ingredients
-
1 tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
-
2 cups broccoli florets
-
2 cups sliced mushrooms (button, cremini, or shiitake)
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
-
2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
1 tbsp oyster sauce (or hoisin for vegetarian)
-
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
-
1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
-
1-2 tbsp water (for steaming if needed)
-
Toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
-
Sauté aromatics: Add garlic and ginger; stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
-
Add vegetables: Toss in broccoli and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, then add a splash of water, cover, and steam for another 2–3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
-
Add sauces: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar (if using). Pour in cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until sauce thickens and coats the veggies.
-
Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
Notes
-
Add tofu, tempeh, or chicken for a protein boost.
-
Red bell pepper or snow peas are great add-ins.
-
Adjust soy sauce to taste if you prefer less salt.
