Description

This Broccoli and Mushroom Stir Fry is a simple yet flavorful dish made with crisp-tender broccoli, juicy mushrooms, and a savory garlic-ginger soy sauce. It’s ready in under 20 minutes and perfect as a light main or side dish with rice or noodles.


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (or vegetable oil)

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms (button, cremini, or shiitake)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (or hoisin for vegetarian)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)

  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)

  • 1-2 tbsp water (for steaming if needed)

  • Toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  2. Sauté aromatics: Add garlic and ginger; stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add vegetables: Toss in broccoli and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, then add a splash of water, cover, and steam for another 2–3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.

  4. Add sauces: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar (if using). Pour in cornstarch slurry and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until sauce thickens and coats the veggies.

  5. Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.


Notes

  • Add tofu, tempeh, or chicken for a protein boost.

  • Red bell pepper or snow peas are great add-ins.

 

  • Adjust soy sauce to taste if you prefer less salt.
