Description

Beef Lo Mein is a quick and savory Chinese-American stir-fry dish featuring tender strips of beef, lo mein noodles, and crisp vegetables tossed in a flavorful soy-based sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (like bell peppers, carrots, and snow peas)
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add garlic, ginger, and mixed vegetables. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until vegetables are just tender.
  5. Return beef to the skillet. Add cooked noodles and the prepared sauce. Toss everything together until evenly coated and heated through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper if needed. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate beef in a little soy sauce and cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Use any vegetables you have on hand—broccoli, cabbage, or mushrooms work well.
  • This dish is best served fresh but can be refrigerated and reheated.
